Why this course matters
Access arrangements for KS2 national curriculum tests require careful professional judgement. Schools need to consider the pupil’s specific barrier to access, normal classroom practice, evidence, test-specific restrictions and the correct STA process. This course provides practical guidance on the KS2 access arrangements framework and supports schools in making appropriate, evidence-informed decisions. It explains which arrangements require an application, which require notification and which are school-delegated, as well as how to plan secure administration before, during and after the tests. The course also includes specific guidance for specialist teacher assessors making recommendations for KS2 access arrangements, including how to frame report wording appropriately and avoid implying that reports replace school decision-making or STA processes.
